COMPLETE DETAILS, UPDATES & the 2025 All New England Shop Hop PRIZE WINNERS at ANESH

As the saying goes, “all good things eventually come to an end.” It is with great sadness that we announce the school bell will not ring for the Schoolhouse Shop Hop any longer. Throughout the fourteen years of our shop hop we met thousands of quilters. We gave away over 50,000 fat quarters, served hundreds of crockpots of soup, but most importantly, shared our love of quilting. Over the years you learned lots of new tips and techniques from the demos as you traveled the “learning loop.” You received free patterns, prizes, and graduation gifts. With a portion of the proceeds from the registration fees, over $9,000 was donated to local domestic violence crisis centers and local food pantries. Thank you, Schoolhouse Shop Hoppers, for the fun, laughter, and the excitement during our hop. Thank you for fourteen wonderful years!

This Taco Soup will remind you of the Schoolhouse Shop Hop, the Red Barn Sewing & Yarn Center, and all the FUN you had! Every time we serve it, we talk about the hundreds of hoppers who visited our shop over a three-day weekend the end of March. taco-soup-recipe

  • 1 pkg (1 1/3 lb) ground turkey 93%- 97% fat free
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 pack Taco Seasoning
  • 1 pack Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing
  • 1 – 28 oz. can diced tomato
  • 1 – 10 oz. can Rotelle Tomato – original
  • 1 – 14 oz. can chicken broth
  • 1 – 15 oz. can each Black Beans, Dark Kidney Beans, Light Kidney Beans, Garbanzo Beans, Pinto Beans (or any combination you like)
  • 1 can corn

Sauté the ground turkey and onions. Add the tomatoes, broth, taco seasoning and Hidden Valley seasoning. Simmer for 15 – 20 minutes. Drain and rinse the beans and corn. Add to the meat mixture. Bring to a low “boil” then simmer for an additional 15 – 20 minutes. Makes 4 – 5 quarts. Note – If you are in a hurry, you can add all the ingredients to the sautéed meat, heat thoroughly and skip the simmering. Flavor is better with simmering. We try to use low sodium ingredients
